Türkiye’s defense industry has reached a new milestone in unmanned ground vehicle technology with the introduction of ALPAR, the country’s first heavy-class tracked unmanned armored vehicle. The unveiling took place at Otokar’s factory in Sakarya during a special event marking the company’s 60th anniversary, highlighting a historic step both for Otokar and for Türkiye’s innovative defense vision.
During the ceremony, Otokar General Manager Serdar Görgüç emphasized the company’s growing role in the global defense arena. Alongside ALPAR, Otokar also showcased the ARMA II 8x8 and AKREP II R vehicles, underlining its expanding product portfolio. Görgüç noted the rise in Türkiye’s defense expenditures and stressed Otokar’s export-oriented growth strategy, supported by significant investments in R&D and over 600 engineers working on advanced defense solutions.
ALPAR is equipped with autonomous systems and artificial intelligence infrastructure, enabling it to minimize human risk while increasing efficiency on the battlefield. Its modular design allows for rapid adaptation to various mission requirements. Backed by Otokar’s advanced R&D center with state-of-the-art testing and simulation facilities, ALPAR is designed to deliver superior durability and flexibility in demanding combat environments.
In addition to ALPAR, the event featured other innovations, including a 30 mm turret system and anti-tank missile integration. These developments represent significant steps in modernizing Türkiye’s land forces, while also strengthening Otokar’s position in the global defense market. With ALPAR and its next-generation vehicles, Otokar aims to provide effective solutions not only for the Turkish Armed Forces but also for allied armies, further elevating the reputation of Türkiye’s defense industry on the international stage.
