At the 17th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025) in Istanbul, Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi AŞ (MKE) introduced its latest innovation — the TOLGA Drone Defense System, designed to counter modern unmanned aerial threats through an integrated and modular structure. Hosted by the Ministry of National Defense and supported by the Presidency of Defense Industries, the event showcased cutting-edge technologies shaping the future of defense, with TOLGA standing out as one of the most advanced counter-drone solutions on display.
TOLGA operates as a multi-layered defense shield, integrating a command and control center, mobile radar units, electro-optical sensors, jammer systems, and turret-mounted kinetic weapons. The system detects drones via radar at ranges up to 10,000 meters, disables their communication links using electronic jamming, and — if necessary — engages targets with turreted weapons optimized for distance and size. The system’s modular turret family includes:
According to MKE Deputy General Manager Tolga Çelik, TOLGA represents a hybrid approach that combines electronic warfare and kinetic interception capabilities. “Detected drones are tracked through radar and electro-optical systems, then automatically relayed to the command center. Based on the threat’s range, the system selects the appropriate weapon and ammunition to neutralize it. All ammunition is developed domestically by MKE,” Çelik stated. He emphasized that TOLGA’s rapid reaction capability and high targeting precision make it suitable for base defense, border security, and protection of critical infrastructure.
MKE also displayed a range of complementary innovations at IDEF 2025, including kamikaze drones, unmanned surface vehicles, and chemical, biological, and radiological (CBR) protection systems. Çelik highlighted that Turkey’s defense industry has transformed since IDEF’s inception in 1993, saying, “Turkey is no longer a market — it is now a country that the world wants to partner with.”
The TOLGA Drone Defense System signifies MKE’s growing role in next-generation defense solutions. Its modularity, precision, and speed of deployment make it a cornerstone in Turkey’s evolving anti-drone and air defense strategy, offering a comprehensive response to the increasing complexity of aerial threats on the modern battlefield.
