BREAKING NEWS
President of the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) Haluk Görgün made significant statements regarding the successful completion of the qualification processes of the Modern Machine Gun (MMT) developed by Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE). In a post shared on his social media account, Görgün emphasized that the MKE MMT was developed in line with the operational needs of the Turkish Armed Forces and that this achievement is a concrete indicator of the advanced engineering level reached by Turkey’s domestic and national defense industry.
Görgün highlighted that the MMT successfully passed demanding NATO standards and will serve as an important force multiplier on the battlefield thanks to its light weight and high effectiveness. Designed to meet the modern combat requirements of Turkish soldiers, the MMT is expected to significantly enhance the operational capabilities of the Turkish Armed Forces. He underlined that this success clearly reflects Turkey’s determination to design and produce its own weapons using its own expertise and intellectual capacity.
Congratulating all stakeholders involved in the project, Görgün expressed his appreciation to the MKE family, engineers, technicians, and personnel of the Presidency of Defense Industries for their dedicated efforts. He noted that such achievements play a crucial role in reducing foreign dependency in defense technologies and serve as a strong motivation for future indigenous projects.
According to technical information shared by MKE, the Modern Machine Gun successfully passed 40 different NATO qualification tests. Weighing approximately 8 kilograms, the MMT stands out as lighter than many of its counterparts. The system completed an intensive qualification process involving 250,000 rounds, demonstrating its durability, reliability, and operational efficiency. With these features, the MMT emerges as a modern and robust weapon system ready to serve Turkish soldiers in the field.
