BREAKING NEWS
Turkey’s advanced unmanned combat aerial vehicle, Bayraktar AKINCI, once again showcased its operational excellence by achieving a precise strike with a domestically developed munition. During the latest firing test, AKINCI launched ASELSAN’s LGK-82 — a laser guidance kit that transforms the Mk-82 general-purpose bomb into a precision-guided weapon — and scored a direct hit on its designated target. The test demonstrated the seamless integration of locally produced avionics, targeting, and guidance systems, reaffirming Turkey’s growing defense ecosystem synergy.
Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) President Haluk Görgün shared the achievement on his NeXT Social account, emphasizing that the “millimetric accuracy” of the strike reflects the vision and integration expertise of Turkish engineers. “This success is the clearest indicator of our system integration capability,” Görgün stated, congratulating the teams from Baykar and ASELSAN for their collaboration in the project.
ASELSAN’s LGK-82 provides laser guidance capability to standard Mk-82 bombs, allowing precision engagement of both stationary and moving targets. When paired with Bayraktar AKINCI’s advanced electro-optical targeting suite and mission computers, the system delivers rapid target acquisition, guidance, and impact assessment. This synergy not only enhances operational flexibility but also reduces mission costs and collateral damage — key priorities in modern aerial warfare.
ASELSAN General Manager Ahmet Akyol described the LGK-82 as “AKINCI’s sharp sword,” while Baykar Chairman Selçuk Bayraktar celebrated the successful test with the phrase “Direct Hit.” The results underline the effectiveness of Turkey’s integrated approach to UAVs, smart munitions, and avionics systems. With this success, the AKINCI platform continues to prove its role as a cornerstone of Turkey’s air power and an emblem of the country’s self-reliant defense capability.
