Baykar's Özdemir Bayraktar National Technology Center received a visit from a delegation led by Belgian Queen Mathilde as part of an economic mission to Turkey. Selçuk Bayraktar delivered a comprehensive presentation to the delegation on the company's unmanned aerial vehicles and kamikaze platforms. The presentation covered the operational characteristics and tactical applications of Baykar's unmanned systems portfolio.
A key highlight of the presentation was the retrievable design of the kamikaze solutions. Selçuk Bayraktar emphasized that this feature provides operational flexibility and reduces unnecessary costs. According to this approach, platforms can be recalled if target engagement is aborted and redeployed for subsequent missions. This design philosophy optimizes system costs while offering decision-makers operational alternatives. Bayraktar noted that unmanned aerial vehicles serve as deterrence instruments, and when produced in sufficient quantities, they establish strategic force balance.
Baykar holds a pioneering position in the Turkish defense industry's unmanned aerial vehicles and kamikaze platforms sector. The company has developed a broad product range spanning from tactical UAVs such as Bayraktar TB2 and TB3 to advanced platforms including AKINCI and Kızılelma. These systems have played a critical role in modernizing Turkey's air power and achieving indigenization targets. The company's R&D investments have strengthened Turkey's technological independence in the defense sector.
On the international stage, unmanned aerial vehicles and kamikaze systems have become integral to modern defense strategy. The United States' MQ-9B Reaper system, Israel's various kamikaze platforms, and Europe's evolving UAV programs demonstrate the global significance of these technologies. Baykar's systems are competitive with international standards and address the defense requirements of numerous countries worldwide.
Selçuk Bayraktar provided examples of the platforms' technical specifications and armament capabilities during the presentation, illustrating the complex nature of modern defense systems. In his remarks, he emphasized the necessity of discussing armament details, noting that such technical information is inherent to the defense sector's nature. Economic and defense cooperation between Turkey and NATO member Belgium contributes to deepening bilateral relations.
This visit reflects Baykar's growing international recognition while demonstrating the global acceptance of Turkish defense technology. Unmanned aerial vehicles and kamikaze platforms continue to gain importance as fundamental components of next-generation defense strategies. The Belgian Queen's visit underscores the central role these technologies play in international policy and defense diplomacy.
