BREAKING NEWS
Marking its 50th anniversary, ASELSAN celebrated a historic day with a series of major announcements under the theme “Laying the Foundations for the Next 50 Years.” In a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, ASELSAN officially delivered key components of Türkiye’s multi-layered air defense architecture, known as Çelik Kubbe (Iron Dome), broke ground on the Oğulbey Technology Base, and inaugurated 14 new facilities that expand the company’s R&D and production capacity.
The Çelik Kubbe program, described as a “system of systems,” integrates multiple indigenous defense layers — including SİPER, HİSAR, and KORKUT air defense systems, as well as advanced radar and electronic warfare elements. The newly delivered units are expected to strengthen Türkiye’s active air defense coverage, protecting strategic facilities, military bases, and major urban areas. The package reportedly includes radar systems such as ALP, PUHU, and REDET, representing dozens of vehicles and subsystems designed for networked operation.
At the ceremony, President Erdoğan emphasized that Çelik Kubbe elevates Türkiye to a new tier of self-reliant air defense capability. ASELSAN executives highlighted that these deliveries are only the first phase of a long-term roadmap that will extend across land, sea, and space domains. The system’s integration of radar networks, electro-optical sensors, communications nodes, and command-control software ensures a fully indigenous, layered defensive shield for the “Gök Vatan” — Türkiye’s airspace.
Another major development was the groundbreaking of the Oğulbey Technology Base in Gölbaşı, Ankara. The new campus will be larger than ASELSAN’s three existing facilities combined and will centralize the production of radar systems, sensor technologies, and Çelik Kubbe components. The site is expected to become one of Türkiye’s most advanced defense R&D and manufacturing hubs, significantly increasing production efficiency and supply chain resilience. ASELSAN leaders underscored the project’s role in boosting local engineering capacity and innovation potential for the coming decades.
Additionally, 14 new facilities were officially inaugurated, reflecting ASELSAN’s commitment to technological expansion, domestic employment, and export competitiveness. Together, these initiatives reinforce Türkiye’s vision of defense self-sufficiency through indigenous innovation. The ceremony showcased not only ASELSAN’s engineering achievements but also its long-term strategy to build a sustainable and globally competitive defense ecosystem.
