BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s defense industry has introduced another cutting-edge innovation with the development of the modular guided missile Kuzgun. The project, undertaken by TÜBİTAK Defense Industries Research and Development Institute (SAGE), aims to provide a modern and indigenous solution to the country’s tactical guided munition needs. Featuring high strike precision and versatility, Kuzgun is expected to make a significant contribution to Türkiye’s defense capabilities.
The program includes three distinct variants: a free-fall version, a turbojet-powered version, and a solid-fuel version. This modularity enables Kuzgun to be effectively deployed against both land and maritime threats, ensuring broad operational flexibility. The missile, recently revealed to the public through TRT Haber, showcases Türkiye’s progress in diversifying its domestically produced weapon systems.
Kuzgun is designed for use with a wide array of platforms, including the National Combat Aircraft, F-16s, F-35s, Hürjet, and Hürkuş aircraft, as well as advanced UAVs such as Akıncı, Aksungur, and Anka. This adaptability provides Türkiye with greater airpower flexibility, enhanced deterrence, and improved operational effectiveness across different combat scenarios.
According to TÜBİTAK SAGE Director Gürcan Okumuş, Kuzgun not only surpasses many of its foreign counterparts in capability but also offers a cost-effective advantage. With test firings scheduled to begin next year, Kuzgun is poised to reinforce Türkiye’s inventory of indigenous munitions and play a pivotal role in advancing national defense autonomy.
