BREAKING NEWS
In recent years, Türkiye’s defense industry has achieved remarkable progress, particularly in naval technology. The simultaneous initiation of the National Aircraft Carrier, TF-2000 Air Defense Destroyer, and National Submarine projects highlights the country’s determination to become not just a regional, but a global naval power. These developments showcase a strong domestic capability to design and build advanced maritime platforms while strengthening Türkiye’s strategic position within NATO.
Today, Türkiye stands as the only country in the world simultaneously constructing 31 warships. This extraordinary achievement surpasses the total production across the entire European continent. Beyond building ships, Türkiye also manufactures the complex subsystems that power them — including radars, missile systems, sensors, and electronic components — ensuring full technological independence in defense production.
Defense and Naval Expert Kozan Selçuk Erkan describes this milestone as “a bold challenge that marks the start of a new era for Türkiye.” According to Erkan, the TF-2000 destroyer, equipped with advanced radar and long-range air defense missiles, will become a key element in the protection of Türkiye’s “Blue Homeland.” The National Submarine will integrate Türkiye’s first indigenous cruise missile, offering extended range, advanced sensors, and an air-independent propulsion system for longer underwater endurance. Meanwhile, the National Aircraft Carrier will host both manned and unmanned aerial systems — potentially becoming the world’s first hybrid carrier of its kind.
The aircraft carrier symbolizes Türkiye’s transition to a truly global naval power capable of projecting strength far beyond its regional waters. Experts emphasize that these projects will not only enhance Türkiye’s military capabilities but also bolster its diplomatic influence on the global stage. With these advances, Türkiye has now positioned itself ahead of Europe in naval production and stands as a leading force shaping the future of maritime defense technology.
