BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s Minister of Industry and Technology, Mehmet Fatih Kacır, announced that the country is continuing to advance its missile technologies, including the development of indigenous ballistic missiles with a range of up to 2,000 kilometers. Speaking at an iftar program organized by the Şebinkarahisarlılar Solidarity Association, Kacır emphasized the strategic importance of strengthening Türkiye’s defense capabilities amid an increasingly unstable global security environment.
According to Kacır, Türkiye has made remarkable progress in the defense industry over the past two decades and continues to invest heavily in advanced military technologies. He highlighted that the development of long-range missile systems is a crucial part of the country’s deterrence strategy. In this context, Türkiye is actively developing the TAYFUN ballistic missile while also working on next-generation indigenous missiles capable of reaching ranges of up to 2,000 kilometers.
Kacır noted that these projects are designed to enhance Türkiye’s strategic deterrence capability and ensure the security of the nation in a volatile geopolitical region. He stressed that the ultimate goal is to reach a level of deterrence where no adversary would even consider threatening Türkiye’s territory or citizens.
The minister also underlined the dramatic transformation of Türkiye’s defense sector over the last 23 years. Domestic production in the defense industry has increased from around 20 percent to nearly 80 percent, significantly reducing dependence on foreign suppliers. Companies such as ASELSAN, TUSAŞ, and ROKETSAN now play leading roles in developing advanced technologies across land, air, naval, and space domains.
In addition to ballistic missile projects, Türkiye continues to expand its missile portfolio with systems such as the ÇAKIR, ATMACA, and SOM cruise missiles. Kacır also highlighted the country’s layered air defense architecture, which includes systems like KORKUT, HİSAR, and SİPER under the broader “Steel Dome” concept. These developments, he said, demonstrate Türkiye’s determination to achieve technological independence and strengthen its national security infrastructure.
