BREAKING NEWS
The UAV pilots who strengthen the operational power and deterrence of the Turkish Armed Forces undergo an 18-week rigorous training program at the Army Aviation School Command in Isparta. These trainings prepare Turkey’s silent guardians of the skies not only for military operations but also for critical missions such as wildfire monitoring, disaster response, and irregular migration control.
Throughout the course, pilot candidates complete a demanding 720-hour program consisting of basic, emergency, and tactical phases. The training includes 53 hours of real flight experience along with comprehensive lessons on international flight rules, communication protocols, and advanced aerial operation planning. By the end of the program, trainees are expected to achieve solo flight capability and to perform missions under all types of operational and weather conditions.
An officer from the UAV Training Command emphasized that trainees are trained to serve 24/7 as professional UAV pilots. The program uses advanced simulators that replicate real-life scenarios to enhance pilot skills while ensuring safety and cost efficiency. Simulated emergency missions provide hands-on experience in a controlled environment, significantly improving pilots’ readiness for real operations.
Aircraft such as the Bayraktar TB2, a fully Turkish-made UAV capable of flying up to 27,000 feet for 24 hours, play a central role in these trainings. The TB2’s success showcases Turkey’s growing defense industry and technological advancements. The pilot candidates express their pride in serving the nation and their determination to uphold the legacy of the Turkish Armed Forces in the “Century of Türkiye.”
