BREAKING NEWS
At a panel session during the "Allies in Ankara" program held alongside the NATO Summit in the capital, ROKETSAN CEO Murat Ikinci stated that Turkish defense industry's manufacturing capacity, robust industrial base and supply chains are ready to serve allied nations. Ikinci noted that Turkey possesses greater capacity than most allied countries and actively exports its products to international markets.
ROKETSAN derives 35 percent of its revenue from exports and reinvests all such earnings into infrastructure expansion and production line capacity enhancement. Speaking alongside ASELSAN CEO Ahmet Akyol during the panel discussion, Ikinci highlighted the advanced technological capabilities, expertise and rapid delivery processes of the Turkish defense ecosystem. Both executives addressed the role of artificial intelligence in modern warfare. ROKETSAN and ASELSAN rank among Turkey's leading defense firms, having contributed significantly to domestic industry expansion through advanced systems, munitions and electronic products.
Supply chain capacity emerges as a critical factor during wartime operations. Ikinci explained that dependence on a single component from another country can halt production when ammunition depletes and that component becomes unavailable. Sustainability and supply chain resilience represent the most essential elements of production capacity. Citing the Iran-Israel conflict as an example, Ikinci emphasized that the ability to sustain combat operations outweighs initial strike capability. He underscored that Turkey currently stands ready to provide this capacity to most allied nations and has invested heavily in domestic production of critical subcomponents, enabling the Turkish defense industry to manufacture ammunition without relying on foreign spare parts or critical components.
The Turkish defense industry experienced particularly strong growth during the second half of the past five years, with annual exports surpassing $11 billion. Companies such as ASELSAN and ROKETSAN exemplify the technological innovation and manufacturing efficiency driving this expansion. Akyol stated that products can be delivered in less than two years regardless of order specifications. NATO Senior Advisor Yavuz Türkgenci emphasized that Turkish defense industry can simultaneously construct 50 warships. Through companies BMC and FNSS, production of main battle tanks, light battle tanks and armored fighting vehicles further demonstrates this capacity.
Turkey's position in the global defense market has strengthened through enhanced technological sovereignty and increased localization rates. Defense Industry Agency (SSB) President Haluk Görgün stated that Turkey stands ready to serve as one of the primary forces behind the industrial transformation NATO requires. The timing of this year's NATO Summit during a critical period underscores Europe's imperative to intensify collective defense efforts. The solutions and capacities offered by Turkish defense industry align with the alliance's strategic priorities in this context.
