Teknofest Southeast successfully concluded its event held in Şanlıurfa from September 30 to October 4. The festival at Şanlıurfa GAP Airport brought together technology enthusiasts, youth and thousands of visitors, showcasing the strength of Turkey's defense and aviation sector. Baykar, ROKETSAN, Turkish Aerospace Industries, STM, OYAK and other major domestic defense and industrial companies presented their platforms and shared expectations regarding future deliveries.
Since its launch in 2018, Teknofest has expanded significantly and has been held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus and Azerbaijan. This year, the maritime version of the event, Teknofest Blue Homeland, was organized for the second time. With the latest edition in Şanlıurfa, Teknofest has completed its 15th edition since 2018. The festival in Şanlıurfa, a city known for the Göbeklitepe archaeological site, Balıklıgöl and its rich culinary heritage, drew considerable regional interest and attracted numerous visitors.
The Şanlıurfa festival was highlighted by humanoid robots and their "halay dance" performances, with emphasis on the city's historical and cultural heritage. Visitors and children gathered around domestically produced air platforms including Baykar's Kızılelma unmanned fighter jet, Turkish Aerospace Industries' KAAN combat aircraft and the Akıncı unmanned aerial vehicle. On the final day, four robots performed together, dancing halay, playing games and jumping over one another in performances that captivated attendees.
A distinctive feature of the event was the presentation of history through the Göbeklitepe Experience Area, where visitors could complete a journey spanning approximately 12,000 years in just three minutes. Selçuk Bayraktar, chair of the board of directors of Teknofest and chair and chief technology officer of Baykar, stated in his opening remarks that "knowledge, wisdom and civilization are here, and today the technology of the future is also here," emphasizing that just as a new world was built here thousands of years ago, a new future is being built today.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, in his remarks at the festival venue, described Şanlıurfa as a "city of prophets" with thousands of years of scientific, cultural and civilizational heritage. Erdoğan highlighted the city's contributions to medicine, mathematics, astronomy, geometry, physics and philosophy, citing scientists including Al-Battani, Sinan ibn Thabit, Ibn Wasif of Harran and Yunus al-Harrani, as well as the Göbeklitepe archaeological site. He also underscored Turkey's continued success in the defense industry, stating "We are carrying out a complete revolution in this field."
