BREAKING NEWS
Serbia and Algeria are moving toward a new stage of defense cooperation with a significant arms agreement. According to statements by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic, Algeria is set to acquire 48 NORA B52 self-propelled howitzers. The deal is seen as a strategic move to enhance military ties between the two countries while boosting Algeria’s defense capabilities.
The NORA B52, developed by the Serbian defense company Yugoimport, is a 155/52 mm caliber artillery system capable of using NATO-standard ammunition. Built on a wheeled chassis, the system offers high mobility and rapid deployment in the field. It is equipped with advanced fire control and targeting systems, enabling fast target acquisition and efficient ammunition handling. Its ability to operate in coordination with command units enhances battlefield integration and overall operational effectiveness.
One of the system’s most notable features is its impressive range. With standard ammunition, the NORA B52 reaches 30 km; with ERFB-BB rounds, up to 40 km; and with new-generation long-range artillery shells, it can achieve distances of 50–70 km. These capabilities make it highly adaptable to modern combat scenarios. Compared to tracked systems, its wheeled configuration also provides significant logistical advantages, requiring less infrastructure for movement and deployment.
This potential agreement reflects Serbia’s determination to expand its presence in the global arms trade while supporting Algeria’s efforts to modernize its artillery capabilities. Widely exported and in service with several countries, the NORA B52 continues to attract international attention. The deal is expected to strengthen Serbia’s role in global defense markets while providing Algeria with a strategic boost to its military power.
