The armed robot "SARBOT L1," developed by LA2 Dynamics, a subsidiary of Sarsılmaz Group, was showcased during the EFES-2026 Exercise. The robot stands out for its mobility, remote command infrastructure, and integrated weapon systems. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan examined the platform during his visit to the exercise and signed it. Sarsılmaz Board Chairman Latif Aral Aliş stated that the president's inspection of SARBOT L1, Turkey's first domestically developed armed robot, and his endorsement represented a historic moment of pride for the company.
Sarsılmaz is one of Turkey's oldest defense industry companies, founded in 1886. The company has transitioned from traditional weapons manufacturing to modern defense technologies. LA2 Dynamics, established within the Sarsılmaz Group, specializes in robotic systems and autonomous platform development. This structure enables Sarsılmaz to combine its engineering expertise with cutting-edge technologies to produce advanced defense solutions.
SARBOT L1 represents a significant contribution to Turkey's domestic production vision in the armed robotics category. The platform is designed for remote operator control, features integrated fire control systems, and can be equipped with various weapon configurations. Such robotic systems are designed to support ground operations, perform hazardous tasks, and enhance operational effectiveness. Turkish defense industry, similar to its progress in UAV/armed UAV sectors, is increasingly focusing on domesticating autonomous and semi-autonomous ground platforms.
Global defense industry is experiencing rapid development in armed robotic systems. Countries including the United States, Israel, China, and Russia have developed various autonomous ground platforms and deployed them operationally. Turkey's development of domestic solutions in this field carries strategic importance for both technological independence and export potential. Platforms like SARBOT L1 could become future export candidates among Turkish defense industry products.
Sarsılmaz Board Chairman Aliş emphasized that the company will continue to contribute to Turkey's technology-focused advancement in the defense sector through its engineering expertise, integrated production capability, and innovative vision. EFES-2026 Exercise is one of the Turkish Armed Forces' most comprehensive exercises, providing an important platform for showcasing and testing domestic and national defense technologies. This exercise offers defense industry companies the opportunity to present their products directly to decision-makers and military personnel.
