BREAKING NEWS
Poland’s defence industry continues to modernize the country’s infantry capabilities with the introduction of the Grot A3 assault rifle. In December 2025, Fabryka Broni confirmed to Jane’s that it plans to deliver the first production batch of Grot A3 rifles to the Polish Army in June 2026. This announcement provides a clear timeline, improving on earlier statements made at the Grotowisko small-arms conference in June 2024, where the manufacturer only indicated that initial deliveries would take place sometime in 2026.
Speaking during the Polish Army’s individual equipment conference, known as Szpejowisko 2.0, on 11 December, Fabryka Broni’s Chairman of the Board, Seweryn Figurski, stated that the standard Grot A3 rifle has already successfully passed its type trials. This milestone confirms that the weapon meets the technical and operational requirements set by the Polish Armed Forces, paving the way for serial deliveries.
In addition to the standard variant, Figurski revealed that the 10.5-inch short-barrelled Grot currently in service will be upgraded to the A3 standard. Testing of this compact version is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026. The manufacturer also expects follow-on orders in line with Poland’s approved procurement plans, suggesting that the Grot A3 will become a core element of the Polish Army’s future small-arms inventory.
One of the most notable developments concerns the potential acquisition of Grot carbines in a bullpup configuration. This marks one of the first explicit signals that the Polish Army may be reconsidering its traditionally sceptical stance toward bullpup rifles. According to Figurski, the bullpup Grot will require additional testing before any procurement decisions are made. Jane’s understands that the 6th Airborne Brigade has long advocated for this configuration, while soldiers from the 25th Air Cavalry Brigade could also be natural users due to their operational requirements.
