BREAKING NEWS
Otokar, Turkey’s leading manufacturer of land systems and armored vehicles, has significantly expanded its presence in the defense sector with strong performance results over the past year. Despite a period of global contraction in defense spending, the company managed to boost both production and sales, further reinforcing its position as a major player in the international armored vehicle market.
Otokar specializes in the design, development and integration of a wide range of tactical wheeled and tracked armored vehicles, all of which are protected by its own intellectual property rights. The company exports its platforms and turret systems to more than 30 countries, meeting the needs of both the Turkish Armed Forces and allied nations. Its versatile portfolio and engineering expertise have enabled Otokar to remain a key supplier in the global defense landscape.
While the global defense industry shrank by around 1.3 percent last year, Turkey’s focus on national projects and prioritization of domestic manufacturers helped sustain sectoral growth. In this favorable environment, Otokar increased its armored vehicle production from 353 units in 2014 to 481 units the following year. Sales figures also rose from 368 to 487 units, marking a 36% increase in production and a 32% rise in sales.
Approximately one-third of Otokar’s total sales last year were exports—a clear indication that its internationalization strategy is producing strong results. By offering reliable, combat-proven platforms tailored to diverse mission requirements, the company continues to enhance its presence in foreign markets while contributing to Turkey’s defense industry exports.
Otokar’s upward momentum demonstrates the strength of Turkey’s indigenous land systems development capabilities. With its growing product range and expanding global footprint, the company is expected to further solidify its position in the coming years, supporting both national defense needs and international demand for advanced armored solutions.
