BREAKING NEWS
The Turkish Armed Forces (TAF) continue to enhance their defense capabilities by integrating domestically developed high-tech systems into their inventory. In this context, ASELSAN’s SERHAT Mobile Mortar Detection Radar has been delivered to the Land Forces Command. First introduced into TAF’s inventory in 2014, the system has now been upgraded to the “SERHAT-DUAL” configuration to meet evolving operational requirements.
The SERHAT-DUAL Radar not only detects the firing and impact points of mortar munitions but also has the capability to detect, track, and classify artillery shells, rockets, and mini/micro UAVs. This makes it a versatile system, offering wide-ranging protection against multiple types of threats on the battlefield. With its extended target detection range, the radar significantly strengthens the protection of Türkiye’s strategic bases and operational areas.
Developed entirely by ASELSAN, the radar has successfully completed its live-fire test phases and is expected to be fully inducted into service within this year. One of the most striking features of the SERHAT-DUAL is its ability to detect and track different types of threats simultaneously with a single radar system. This provides the TAF with enhanced flexibility while also serving as a cost-effective solution.
The addition of SERHAT represents a major milestone in Türkiye’s defense technology progress and stands as a critical contribution to both regional and global security. With this advanced radar entering service, the Turkish Armed Forces will gain a much stronger and more effective capability against mortar attacks and other aerial threats.
