BREAKING NEWS
Two HÜRJET aircraft developed by TUSAŞ launched from Mürted Air Base and joined the Turkish Air Force's aerobatic team Turkish Stars in their eight-aircraft formation, creating an impressive 10-aircraft lineup. The demonstration featured precision formation flying and aerobatic maneuvers that drew keen attention from spectators. This marked the first time two HÜRJET jets accompanied the Turkish Stars' eight-aircraft formation, establishing a new milestone in Turkish aviation history.
TUSAŞ stands as a leading organization in Turkey's defense aviation sector, having developed strategic platforms including the KAAN indigenous fighter aircraft and the ANKA and AKINCI unmanned aerial vehicles. The HÜRJET program addresses the Turkish Air Force's training and light attack requirements, with prototype aircraft completing approximately 400 sorties. TUSAŞ General Manager Dr. Mehmet Demiroğlu outlined production targets of two units monthly initially, scaling to three units per month during the serial production phase.
The HÜRJET is a single-engine platform designed for advanced training and light attack missions. The aircraft serves as an intermediate trainer for Turkish Air Force pilots before transitioning to F-16 and other modern fighter jets. The system incorporates modern avionics, satellite communications, and integrated weapon management systems. The HÜRJET's operational maturity has been demonstrated through its successful performance in high-discipline missions such as those conducted with the Turkish Stars aerobatic team.
Turkish defense aviation has achieved significant progress over the past two decades. The HÜRJET program plays a critical role in developing indigenous engineering capabilities and increasing the localization rate within the aviation industry. Successful test campaigns of prototype aircraft have demonstrated TUSAŞ's design, manufacturing, and certification capabilities to international standards. The Spanish Air Force's decision to procure HÜRJET aircraft validates the platform's competitive position in the international market.
In the global aviation sector, trainer aircraft represent a significant niche market. The HÜRJET possesses characteristics comparable to international counterparts such as the Beechcraft T-6 Texan II, Pilatus PC-21, and Embraer Tucano. The formation flight with the Turkish Stars demonstrates the HÜRJET's operational reliability and the Turkish Air Force's high-discipline flying culture to the international aviation community. TUSAŞ's serial production plans and growing international interest position the HÜRJET as a significant revenue source for Turkish defense industry exports.
