BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s indigenous jet trainer HÜRJET has taken a major leap forward in its certification journey. According to the announcement made by President of Defence Industry Agency (SSB) Haluk Görgün, the aircraft’s developer Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) has successfully obtained Design Organization Approval (DOA) and Production Organization Approval (POA) — certifications aligned with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) standards. This achievement not only demonstrates technical excellence but also officially validates Türkiye’s capability to design and manufacture aircraft that meet international aviation safety and quality norms.
The DOA certifies that a company possesses the required engineering infrastructure, design processes, and quality management systems necessary to design aircraft or components that comply with stringent airworthiness standards. For HÜRJET, this means every element — from aerodynamics and structural analysis to avionics integration and system safety assessment — has been developed and documented under internationally recognized procedures. The POA, on the other hand, certifies that TUSAŞ is authorized to manufacture and deliver these designs in full compliance with global production and traceability requirements. Together, DOA and POA signify that HÜRJET’s engineering and production ecosystem meets the maturity level of global aerospace benchmarks.
This dual approval marks a turning point not only for HÜRJET’s operational readiness but also for its export potential. As a Lead-In Fighter Trainer (LIFT) platform, HÜRJET is designed to bridge the gap between basic training aircraft and 4.5/5th-generation fighter jets. Featuring high agility, advanced avionics, digital cockpit systems, and low operational costs, HÜRJET is now fully qualified to enter international markets with globally recognized certification credibility. The milestone strengthens confidence in TUSAŞ’s industrial capabilities, enabling sustained production and long-term support for both domestic and allied air forces.
Strategically, the DOA and POA certifications affirm Türkiye’s growing autonomy in aerospace design and production. They also align the nation’s “Independent Skies” vision with internationally accepted aviation safety frameworks. Beyond technical recognition, this progress reflects the success of Türkiye’s collaborative ecosystem — combining government leadership, industrial engineering excellence, and national innovation capacity. HÜRJET thus emerges not merely as a next-generation jet trainer, but as a tangible symbol of Türkiye’s rise as a credible and self-reliant aerospace power.
