BREAKING NEWS
HAVELSAN-developed advanced jet trainer aircraft HÜRJET's simulator and mission planning systems will be exported to Spain. Spain's HÜRJET procurement encompasses not only the aircraft but also the complete pilot training infrastructure. HAVELSAN currently produces simulator systems for various national platforms including the GÖKBEY helicopter, ALTAY tank, and C-130 aircraft. This expertise and capability have enabled the development of a similar ecosystem for HÜRJET.
The Mission Planning System (FSGP) developed by HAVELSAN, with development activities ongoing since 2003 and active operational experience since 2007, provides a national solution to the Turkish Air Force's critical operational requirements. FSGP operates in integration with aircraft mission planning and post-mission evaluation processes, offering intelligent weapon mission planning capability while encompassing unmanned aerial vehicle mission planning and control station capabilities. The system addresses new-generation platform requirements including low observability, electromagnetic emission planning, infrared search and track, next-generation data links, and network-enabled munitions mission planning, while supporting artificial intelligence-enabled multi-mission planning for manned-unmanned aircraft operations.
The HÜRJET procurement program is designated as "ITC-S" in Spain. Within this scope, various facilities will be established in Spain, including a training center housing simulators. Full-mission and flight training simulators developed by HAVELSAN will be utilized for Spanish pilot training. Additionally, in accordance with the contract signed by TUSAŞ, the Mission Planning System will be integrated into HÜRJET and exported to Spain. Spain's adoption of HÜRJET will modernize its aging F-5 fleet and provide seamless transition capability to the Eurofighter Typhoon.
This step by Turkish defense industry represents significant progress in national technology and localization. The NATO-standard compatibility of HAVELSAN's simulator and mission planning systems has ensured acceptance by NATO allies. The HÜRJET platform produced by TUSAŞ, combined with HAVELSAN's software and training infrastructure, demonstrates the integrity of Turkey's defense industry ecosystem. Such integrated solutions enhance value addition in Turkey's defense exports and facilitate technology transfer.
The signature ceremony was attended by TUSAŞ officials, Spanish defense procurement authorities, and Airbus representatives. Defense Industry Agency President Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün characterized this development as "an extremely important turning point in Turkey's history as the first manned jet-powered aircraft export" and noted that HÜRJET aircraft, produced under TUSAŞ's prime contractor leadership with the combined effort of dozens of companies, will represent Turkish engineering excellence in European skies. The program reflects concrete cooperation between Turkey and Spain within the NATO framework.
