BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s defense industry achieved another breakthrough in precision strike capability with the GÖZDE Guidance Kit, co-developed by ASELSAN and TÜBİTAK SAGE. In a recent live-fire test conducted from an F-16 fighter jet, GÖZDE successfully hit a fast-moving car target with pinpoint accuracy. The test demonstrated the system’s advanced target-tracking capability — the laser-designated target was continuously tracked and destroyed using integrated ANS (Inertial Navigation System), KKS (Global Positioning System), and LAB (Laser Seeker) guidance technologies.
Designed to transform MK-82 general-purpose bombs into precision-guided munitions, GÖZDE provides engagement capability against both stationary and moving targets. Although it carries no propulsion system, its advanced guidance algorithms and combined navigation suite enable cost-effective, high-accuracy strikes at extended ranges. This development further enhances the Turkish Air Force’s strike flexibility, making GÖZDE a key force multiplier for both manned and unmanned combat aircraft.
According to Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, the test marked a record achievement: “GÖZDE became the first Turkish guidance kit to successfully hit the fastest target in testing.” The system’s success showcases the maturity of Türkiye’s integrated weapon–sensor–platform architecture and underscores its ability to perform complex, real-time precision attacks.
GÖZDE’s modular design ensures easy integration with current fighter aircraft and UAV platforms such as Bayraktar AKINCI, extending its operational use to air-to-ground missions under various weather and visibility conditions. With its combination of inertial, satellite, and laser terminal guidance, GÖZDE provides strategic precision capability while maintaining low cost and operational sustainability.
The test results reinforce ASELSAN and TÜBİTAK SAGE’s role as key drivers of Türkiye’s indigenous smart munition development, further strengthening the country’s competitiveness in the global defense technology landscape.
