BREAKING NEWS
One of Türkiye’s most significant achievements in defense and aviation, the GÖKBEY helicopter represents the strength of Turkish engineering with its fully indigenous design. Developed by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) under the Original Helicopter Program launched in 2013, GÖKBEY successfully completed its maiden flight in 2018. Designed as a multi-role utility helicopter, it is intended to meet both military and civilian requirements.
Before entering full service, GÖKBEY is undergoing rigorous testing across different parts of Türkiye. While the majority of the trials are centered at TUSAŞ facilities in Kahramankazan, the helicopter is also being tested simultaneously in cities such as Ankara, Kocaeli, and Erzurum. These locations provide varying climate and geographical conditions, from sea level to high altitudes and from hot environments to snowy terrains. The successful performance in these trials confirms GÖKBEY’s ability to operate in any mission environment.
GÖKBEY is designed for a wide range of missions including transport, VIP flights, cargo, air ambulance, search and rescue, and offshore operations. Thanks to its versatility, the helicopter stands out as a reliable platform for both civilian and military applications. Once certification processes are completed, deliveries of GÖKBEY will begin both domestically and internationally. The first units are expected to be delivered to the Gendarmerie General Command, strengthening Türkiye’s security and operational capabilities.
Beyond its operational role, GÖKBEY has become a symbol of national engineering achievements. The ongoing successful trials not only secure its future in domestic service but also open the path for the helicopter to compete in international markets as a strong contender.
