BREAKING NEWS
Germany is taking a significant step in modernizing its military training by integrating advanced unmanned ground systems. The Hammelburg Infantry School has begun using the Gereon Unmanned Ground Vehicle (UGV), developed by ARX Landsysteme, in various training scenarios. The system plays a vital role in “robotic breaching” operations, obstacle clearance in forests, and urban combat simulations.
Beyond its operational functions, the use of Gereon contributes to the development of artificial intelligence models. Data collected from its sensors are analyzed to enhance both system efficiency and battlefield safety. ARX Landsysteme, focusing on autonomous systems and advanced sensor integration, aims to support German forces with faster decision-making and more effective operational solutions.
Equipped with an integrated acoustic sensor module, Gereon can rapidly detect and locate enemy fire. It also features stair-climbing capability, 360-degree vision, casualty evacuation, and mine detection functions. Furthermore, the vehicle can act as a mobile relay station, interlinking different systems across a network, making it highly versatile in the field.
From a technical perspective, Gereon offers a maximum payload capacity of 600 kg, a 40 km range, and speeds up to 20 km/h. Outfitted with GPS receivers and LIDAR sensors, it can operate autonomously along pre-defined routes or in follow-me mode, while also overcoming various terrain obstacles. With these capabilities, Gereon significantly enhances both the training effectiveness and operational readiness of the German Army.
