BREAKING NEWS
Digitest continues to develop solutions against emerging threats in close air defense systems. The company has expanded its counter-drone platform portfolio with GATREX, a newly developed system. The platform was designed to provide preventive capabilities against FPV and kamikaze drone threats, which have become increasingly prevalent in recent operations.
According to Digitest External Relations Specialist Berk Demirkoparan, GATREX is a hybrid system that will operate in close air defense layers. The platform emerged following an extensive research and development process. The system achieves speeds of 90 kilometers per hour and can remain airborne for 75 minutes. Its hybrid power architecture, combining both fuel and battery operation, provides operational flexibility.
A key feature of GATREX is its integrated Gatling gun system. According to Demirkoparan, this weapon system is produced only by the United States and now by Digitest as the second manufacturer. The system has a firing rate of 3,000 rounds per minute and can carry ammunition capacity of 3,000 rounds in a single magazine.
Current operational concept requires two operators—one controlling the weapon system and another piloting the drone. However, an AI-assisted version is under development for future deployment. This new variant will enable single-operator control of the system, reducing operational complexity and costs.
Digitest confirmed that GATREX has completed firing, flight, and integrated testing phases. The system has now achieved operational readiness status. GATREX is intended to serve in the forward layer of air defense, protecting high-value assets and critical infrastructure.
