BREAKING NEWS
EJDERHA stands out as one of the most innovative and strategic components of Türkiye’s multi-layered and integrated air defense architecture, ÇELİKKUBBE. Unlike conventional systems that rely on missiles, ammunition, or kinetic interceptors, EJDERHA belongs to the “directed energy weapons” category. Developed by ASELSAN, the system neutralizes targets not through physical destruction, but by emitting high-power electromagnetic waves that disable electronic circuits and render aerial threats inoperable.
The system’s capabilities were showcased during a comprehensive demonstration held at ASELSAN’s Gölbek Technology Campus, with participation from officials of the Presidency of Defence Industries and various security institutions. During the demonstration, EJDERHA was tested against multiple unmanned aerial vehicle scenarios at distances of several hundred meters. In the first scenario, the system simultaneously neutralized three wired FPV drones within seconds. In a second scenario, EJDERHA successfully disabled two FPV drones—one wired and one wireless—approaching from different angles.
Further tests demonstrated the system’s effectiveness against critical drone components such as Mugin engines, Talon wings, and servo motors used in propeller and control mechanisms. Thanks to electromagnetic waves traveling at the speed of light, EJDERHA offers an extremely rapid reaction time, making evasion virtually impossible. In addition, the cost per engagement is significantly lower than that of traditional missile-based air defense systems. Since the system does not rely on expendable ammunition, it can continue operating as long as sufficient power is available, providing a sustainable and continuous defense capability.
Mounted on a mobile platform, the EJDERHA/AD-200 employs advanced vacuum electronics technology to generate high-power electromagnetic energy capable of disabling the navigation, communication, and command-and-control systems of mini and micro UAVs from a safe distance. Having reached the low-rate initial production phase, the system is expected to enter operational service in 2026. As next-generation, silent, and AI-enabled drone threats increasingly dominate modern battlefields and critical infrastructure environments, EJDERHA represents a next-generation response, significantly strengthening Türkiye’s electronic warfare and air defense capabilities within the ÇELİKKUBBE framework.
