BREAKING NEWS
Israel’s defense industry has achieved another technological breakthrough in the field of unmanned aerial systems and loitering munitions. Israeli network solutions provider Mobilicom has signed a production agreement with Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) to deliver a critical cybersecurity system for next-generation loitering munitions. This move is seen as a major step in strengthening Israel’s technological edge on the battlefield.
The system, named SkyHopper Pro Lite, is designed to automatically counter digital threats and cyberattacks against UAVs without requiring human operators. Capable of maintaining radio signals over a distance of up to five kilometers, the device is optimized for use in dense urban and industrial environments. With these capabilities, the system is expected to provide a strong shield against modern electronic warfare threats, ensuring operational reliability for Israel’s armed forces.
Mobilicom CEO Oren Elkayam highlighted the growing importance of drone technologies in modern warfare, emphasizing the rising demand for end-to-end solutions provided by the company. He also noted that SkyHopper Pro Lite, developed in close collaboration with IAI, has already been integrated into loitering munitions that are now entering production, ensuring enhanced effectiveness in combat scenarios.
This development reflects not only Israel’s strengthening defense capabilities but also growing international interest in such technologies. In 2023, IAI signed an agreement with Estonia to supply loitering munitions, bolstering the Baltic nation’s defense systems. Meanwhile, the U.S. government’s purchase of kamikaze drones from AeroVironment and IAI’s joint research with Korea Space Industries further illustrate the global trend of integrating cybersecurity with unmanned warfare systems.
