BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye has achieved another milestone in its efforts to strengthen its defense industry and reduce foreign dependence. The Bozdoğan and Gökdoğan air-to-air missiles, developed by TÜBİTAK SAGE, have successfully completed their design verification tests. This marks a crucial stage before the missiles proceed to serial production and eventual induction into the Turkish Air Force’s inventory.
The Bozdoğan is a short-range, infrared-guided air-to-air missile designed for high precision against low-maneuverability targets. It provides Turkish fighter aircraft with an advanced close-range combat capability. In contrast, the Gökdoğan is a medium-range, active radar-guided missile capable of intercepting highly maneuverable targets at longer ranges, significantly enhancing Türkiye’s modern air combat capabilities.
During the verification tests, the missiles underwent comprehensive evaluations of their detection, tracking, and target destruction abilities. Defense experts note that this success demonstrates the technological maturity Türkiye has reached in indigenous missile development, while also contributing to the country’s goal of strengthening national defense autonomy.
Once inducted, Bozdoğan and Gökdoğan are expected to substantially boost the Turkish Air Force’s air-to-air combat effectiveness, reinforcing Türkiye’s regional air superiority and positioning its defense industry more competitively in the global market.
