BREAKING NEWS
One of Türkiye’s most significant defense projects, the Bayraktar TB3 UAV, has successfully completed its high-altitude performance test. Developed entirely with domestic resources by Baykar, the TB3 climbed to 30,000 feet powered by the locally produced TEI PD-170 engine, proving its endurance and system capabilities at high altitudes. This milestone marks an important step in validating the UAV’s operational readiness for diverse missions.
A standout feature of the Bayraktar TB3 is its foldable wing structure, which allows it to take off and land on short-runway vessels such as the TCG Anadolu. This unique capability distinguishes it from other UAVs in its class worldwide, offering Türkiye a strategic edge in overseas and naval operations. In addition, with its beyond-line-of-sight communication system, the TB3 can be remotely controlled from long distances and is capable of executing intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and strike missions using smart munitions.
Baykar has been conducting its R&D activities since 2003 using its own resources. Today, it stands as Türkiye’s leading defense and aerospace exporter, generating the majority of its revenues from international sales. In fact, Baykar alone accounts for nearly one-third of Türkiye’s defense and aerospace exports, underlining its vital role both in strengthening national security and boosting the country’s global defense industry presence.
The Bayraktar TB3 is expected to begin flight tests aboard the TCG Anadolu in 2024, a step that will further enhance the Turkish Navy’s operational capabilities while supporting Türkiye’s goals of defense localization and technological independence.
