BREAKING NEWS
One of Türkiye’s most advanced defense platforms, the Bayraktar AKINCI Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV), has achieved another milestone in indigenous weapons integration. On February 29, 2024, during a test in Çorlu, Tekirdağ, the AKINCI carried out a long-range strike using Roketsan’s Çakır cruise missile, hitting a target 100 kilometers away over the Black Sea with pinpoint accuracy. This test once again highlighted both the deterrent power of the AKINCI and Türkiye’s success in advancing its defense industry through domestic technologies.
The Çakır cruise missile, developed by Roketsan, is designed to effectively engage both land and naval targets. With its integration into the AKINCI platform, the UCAV now possesses expanded long-range strike capabilities, allowing it to carry out strategic missions with greater impact. This achievement demonstrates the significant progress Türkiye has made in strengthening its defense capacity with homegrown missile systems.
Developed by Baykar, the Bayraktar AKINCI has already set new milestones in Turkish aviation history. With over 40,000 flight hours completed and a national altitude record of 45,118 feet, AKINCI continues to stand out as a versatile and strategic asset. Beyond its operational role within Türkiye, the UCAV has also gained global recognition through export deals with nations including Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia, further proving its competitiveness in the international defense market.
The successful test with the Çakır missile not only enhances AKINCI’s operational versatility but also reinforces Türkiye’s defense independence. By integrating locally developed advanced weapon systems, AKINCI is poised to remain a critical asset on modern battlefields, providing both deterrence and strategic flexibility.
