BREAKING NEWS
Ay Yıldız Joint Headquarters, built to gather the command and coordination structure of the Turkish Armed Forces under a single center, will host its first official organization with the 36th NATO Summit. The headquarters, which will bring together the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff, and the Land, Naval and Air Forces Commands on the same campus, stands out as one of Türkiye’s most important defense investments. A major part of the rough construction of the project has reportedly been completed.
The foundation of Ay Yıldız Joint Headquarters was laid on August 30, 2021, with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The project was planned to make a strategic contribution to the Turkish Armed Forces’ joint operations and command capabilities. Once the headquarters enters service, the main elements of defense management will be gathered under one roof. This will create a more integrated structure in decision-making, coordination, information flow and crisis management processes.
With its architecture inspired by the crescent and star, the headquarters is not only an administrative campus but also a strategic center representing Türkiye’s next-generation military command architecture. Designed in line with modern security requirements, the project will enable different force commands to manage joint planning and operational processes from the same center. In this respect, Ay Yıldız Joint Headquarters will contribute to more effective coordination among land, naval and air elements in joint missions.
The first official organization to be hosted by the headquarters will be an event of international significance. As part of the NATO Heads of State and Government Summit to be held in Ankara on July 7-8, a reception is planned at Ay Yıldız Joint Headquarters for visiting defense ministers and senior NATO representatives. This development shows that the campus will become a visible center of defense diplomacy before it becomes fully operational.
Considered one of the world’s major military headquarters in terms of scale, Ay Yıldız Joint Headquarters will bring together Türkiye’s goals of speed, security and coordination in defense management under a single roof. Once the project is completed, the Ministry of National Defense, the General Staff and the force commands working on the same campus will increase institutional efficiency and make joint operational planning more effective.
The fact that Ay Yıldız Joint Headquarters will host its first official event during the NATO Summit is regarded as an important step in presenting Türkiye’s transformation in defense infrastructure on an international platform. With its integrated command structure, symbolic architecture and strategic location, the headquarters stands out not only as the future command center of the Turkish Armed Forces but also as a strong prestige project reflecting Türkiye’s defense vision.
