BREAKING NEWS
A major step has been taken in Türkiye’s defense industry with the launch of ASPİLSAN Enerji’s lithium-ion battery production facility. The foundation of the plant was laid in 2020 at the Mimarsinan Organized Industrial Zone, and construction was completed with an investment of approximately ₺1.5 billion. Supported by the Turkish Armed Forces Foundation, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and private donors, the facility will provide critical contributions to the energy requirements of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK).
The new factory boasts an annual production capacity of 21 million batteries and manufactures around 400 different types of batteries and power cells. These products are designed not only for military use but also for a wide range of civilian applications. Ferhat Özsoy, General Manager of ASPİLSAN Enerji, stated that the company aims to further expand the plant’s capacity in the future, ensuring long-term solutions for Türkiye’s defense energy needs.
ASPİLSAN’s batteries can be utilized across a broad spectrum—from military vehicles and communication systems to unmanned platforms, aircraft, and helicopters. Furthermore, the company’s ambition to support the TOGG national electric car project highlights the strategic importance of its battery technologies beyond the defense industry.
This investment represents a crucial step toward reducing Türkiye’s dependence on foreign energy technologies while strengthening technological independence. With continued state support and ongoing R&D initiatives, ASPİLSAN is positioning itself to become one of Europe’s leading battery producers in the coming years.
