The first delivery of BORAN howitzers, developed to enhance the operational strength of the Turkish Armed Forces, has been successfully completed. The Ministry of National Defense announced that the addition of BORAN marks a strategic step, providing modern and effective firepower to the Turkish military. Developed by engineers of MKE, BORAN belongs to the class of 105 mm air-transportable light towed howitzers, specifically designed to perform effectively under challenging terrain conditions.
Weighing 1,780 kilograms, BORAN stands out with its ability to be transported both by land and air. This capability provides a significant advantage in terms of rapid deployment and mobility during sudden operations. The system can be made ready to fire in just one minute and has a rate of fire of 6 rounds per minute, ensuring reliable and immediate artillery support in the field.
Technically, BORAN is equipped with a modern fire control system and offers 360-degree day and night firing capability. It is fully operational in extreme conditions, ranging from -32 to +44 degrees Celsius. With an effective range of 17 kilometers, the howitzer provides the Turkish Armed Forces with enhanced fire support and battlefield superiority.
BORAN has successfully passed 24 international standard tests, proving its quality and reliability. This achievement not only strengthens Türkiye’s national defense capabilities but also positions BORAN as a potential candidate for future export projects. With this first delivery, BORAN officially enters active service, highlighting Türkiye’s ability to produce advanced indigenous defense systems.
