BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s leading tactical UAV manufacturer STM showcased two of its latest innovations at the 17th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2025) — the BOYGA-B rotary-wing unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) capable of carrying multiple munitions, and the TUNGA Smart Ammunition System, which integrates seamlessly with it. Both systems represent the next step in Türkiye’s effort to expand the versatility and precision of its unmanned combat fleet.
Developed for reconnaissance, surveillance, target acquisition, and precision strike missions, BOYGA-B can carry two 81mm mortar rounds as well as a range of smart munitions. With a payload capacity of 8 kilograms, BOYGA-B operates effectively even in GNSS-denied or jammed environments, providing autonomous navigation and precise strike capability. Its modular release mechanism allows it to drop multiple types of munitions with high accuracy during a single mission.
Accompanying BOYGA-B is TUNGA, STM’s new smart loitering munition developed for anti-personnel operations. Featuring a 1.75 kg warhead, EO/thermal imaging systems, and AI-based image processing algorithms, TUNGA can identify and engage targets with pinpoint precision. The system also includes a proximity-fused detonation feature and a self-destruct option for post-mission safety. TUNGA can be deployed not only from BOYGA-B but also integrated into other aerial platforms.
STM General Manager Özgür Güleryüz stated that the BOYGA-B represents a significant leap in multi-mission UAV capability: “BOYGA-B can carry and deploy different types of munitions from a single platform, offering tactical flexibility in the field. TUNGA, on the other hand, provides precise, image-guided targeting from tactical UAVs. Both systems have successfully completed field tests and are ready for operational use.”
He added that these two systems elevate STM’s position in tactical UAV and smart munitions technology: “With our national engineering power, we continue to deliver innovative and indigenous solutions for our armed forces and allied nations.”
