Haluk Görgün, head of Türkiye’s Presidency of Defence Industries, carried out on-site inspections of investment, modernization, and production infrastructure activities at key facilities of Machinery and Chemical Industry Inc. (MKE) in Ankara and Kırıkkale. According to the official statement, the visit covered a broad range of subjects from production infrastructure to research and development work. The inspections highlighted that the activities underway in the field are further strengthening Türkiye’s production power, supply capability, and strategic resilience in the defense industry.
The Ankara leg of the program included visits to the General Directorate in Çankaya, the Machinery and Technology Factory in Mamak, and the Rocket and Explosives Factory in Elmadağ. In Kırıkkale, Görgün inspected the Energetic Materials Factory, the Powder Factory, the Ammunition Factory, the Steel and Brass Factory, and the Heavy Weapons Factory. This schedule showed that MKE plays a critical role across a broad defense-industrial spectrum, including ammunition, explosives, heavy weapons, metal processing, and advanced manufacturing technologies.
In his remarks after the visit, Görgün stated that MKE continues to hold a critical position in Türkiye’s defense ecosystem thanks to its deep-rooted production experience. He emphasized that cooperation between the Presidency of Defence Industries and MKE is of major importance for meeting the needs of the security forces and strengthening the domestic defense industry. He also underlined that their core objective is to deliver the required systems at the right time, with high reliability, and with the highest possible domestic content ratio.
Görgün further noted that MKE’s ongoing investments are an important part of this objective. He said the progress observed on site shows that Türkiye is moving toward a capacity that can respond rapidly to operational needs, preserve production agility during crises, and act as a reliable solution partner at the international level. This underlines that MKE is viewed not only as a traditional defense manufacturer, but also as a vital industrial backbone for supply security and strategic continuity.
Stressing that success in the defense industry is the product of strong human resources, disciplined work, and institutional determination, Görgün congratulated MKE’s management, engineers, technicians, workers, and all personnel contributing in the field. He added that projects carried out with MKE will continue with determination in the coming period, and that efforts aimed at production continuity, technological progress, and strong industrial infrastructure in the defense sector will keep receiving support. These remarks indicate that MKE will remain one of the central pillars of Türkiye’s indigenous defense production strategy in the years ahead.
