BREAKING NEWS
Operating under the umbrella of Makine ve Kimya Endüstrisi AŞ (MKE), the Çankırı Weapons Factory is entering a comprehensive modernization process to meet the Turkish Armed Forces’ needs for weapons, ammunition, and explosives. This major investment is designed not only to increase the factory’s production capabilities but also to upgrade its technological infrastructure. As a critical player in medium-caliber weapon systems production, the factory holds a key role in advancing Turkey’s independence in the defense sector.
With the modernization project, significant increases in production capacity are expected. Once completed, the factory will be able to manufacture 30 dual-barrel 35mm anti-aircraft guns, 1000 40mm drum grenade launchers, 400 automatic grenade launchers, 1000 12.7mm anti-aircraft heavy machine guns, and 20 BORAN howitzers annually. These figures are not only expected to meet the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces but also to boost the factory’s export potential.
The modernization of the Çankırı Weapons Factory goes beyond production numbers; it directly supports Turkey’s goal of increasing domestic production in the defense sector. With 74,000 square meters of indoor and 1,342,000 square meters of outdoor space, the facility will undergo this transformation with the help of government-backed incentives, ensuring faster and more effective results. Upon completion, Turkey’s position in the global defense industry is projected to become significantly stronger.
Investments of this kind in Turkey’s defense industry play a crucial role in ensuring long-term strategic independence and strengthening national security. The modernization of the Çankırı Weapons Factory stands as a firm step toward creating a production hub capable of meeting future defense needs and adapting to emerging technologies.
