BREAKING NEWS
Baykar's unmanned aerial vehicles and intelligent systems performed various missions showcasing joint operational capabilities during the Ateş Serbest-2026 exercise held in Polatlı, Ankara. The exercise involved the Bayraktar AKINCI tactical unmanned aerial vehicle, Bayraktar TB2 armed unmanned aerial vehicle, K2 Kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicle, SİVRİSİNEK intelligent loitering munition, Bayraktar KALKAN surveillance unmanned aerial vehicle, and KEMANKEŞ 1 artificial intelligence-based mini cruise missile.
Baykar stands as a leading Turkish defense industry company with significant expertise in unmanned aerial vehicles and autonomous systems. The company's platforms have been designed to meet the operational requirements of the Turkish Armed Forces and have undergone extensive field testing. The Ateş Serbest-2026 exercise provided an important opportunity to evaluate how these platforms perform in realistic combat scenarios and integrated operations.
During the exercise, five K2 Kamikaze unmanned aerial vehicles maintained control and coordination of a swarm consisting of 20 SİVRİSİNEK intelligent loitering munitions through a ground control station link. Ten SİVRİSİNEK units separated from the autonomously operating swarm conducted diving attacks on designated targets, achieving precise destruction. The Bayraktar KALKAN surveillance unmanned aerial vehicle successfully performed target detection, tracking, and control using the BG-180 3E three-axis stabilized electro-optical system developed by Baykar and employed for the first time. These operations demonstrated the practical applicability of autonomous swarm operations and centralized coordination capabilities.
Two AKINCI aircraft participated in the exercise. The first, in Turkish Armed Forces inventory, successfully engaged designated targets with TEBER, TOLUN, MAM-L TV, and MAM-T munitions. The second AKINCI, launched from Çorlu, performed air and ground target detection using the MURAD AESA radar. The KEMANKEŞ 1 fired from a Bayraktar TB2 in Turkish Armed Forces inventory successfully engaged its target. The AKINCI and Bayraktar TB2 also conducted ceremonial passes. These operations validated the integration with various munition types and the effectiveness of radar-based target detection capabilities.
The platforms developed by Baykar successfully completed their assigned missions during the exercise, demonstrating unmanned systems' capabilities for simultaneous mission management, autonomous swarm operations, target detection, and precision strike in a network-centric warfare environment. Network-centric warfare concepts aim to enhance combat effectiveness through real-time data sharing and coordination among multiple platforms. Turkish defense industry continues to develop such integrated systems, building operational capabilities aligned with NATO standards. The capabilities demonstrated during the exercise indicate that Baykar platforms hold a competitive position for both domestic use and potential export markets.
