BREAKING NEWS
ASFAT has reached a significant milestone in Türkiye’s major naval defense programs. Speaking at DIMDEX 2026 in Doha, Mustafa İlbaş stated that both the TF-2000 Air Defense Destroyer and the National Submarine (MİLDEN) projects are advancing in line with their schedules, with key phases successfully completed.
In the TF-2000 Air Defense Destroyer Project, ASFAT’s role as the main contractor has been further strengthened. Following the successful completion of the first phase, a newly signed contract assigned responsibility for the second phase to ASFAT as well. İlbaş emphasized that the project is progressing in stages and, although a precise launch date has not yet been announced, the goal is to deliver the vessel at the earliest possible time. With a length of 149 meters, a displacement of 8,300 tons, and a 96-cell MİDLAS Vertical Launch System, TF-2000 is expected to significantly enhance the Turkish Navy’s area air defense capability. The destroyer will feature the ÇAFRAD AESA radar, GÖKDENİZ CIWS, advanced electronic warfare systems, and long-endurance operational capacity.
Major progress has also been achieved in the National Submarine (MİLDEN) Project. ASFAT, serving as the main contractor, has initiated the “T0” phase, officially marking the start of construction at the Gölcük Shipyard. Planned to exceed 80 meters in length with a displacement of over 2,700 tons, the MİLDEN submarine is designed to provide low acoustic signature, advanced sonar systems, and extensive indigenous system integration, thereby strengthening Türkiye’s undersea deterrence.
İlbaş also highlighted growing international cooperation, noting that a framework agreement has been signed with Qatar-based Barzan Holding. In addition, an agreement is nearing completion for the maintenance and repair of two Tuzla-class patrol vessels currently in service with the Qatari Navy. These initiatives are expected to further boost the export capacity and global footprint of the Turkish defense industry.
