BREAKING NEWS
ASELSAN has reached a major milestone in Turkey's defense sector through contracts signed between September 23 and October 7. The total value of agreements concluded during this period amounts to 5.19 billion euros and $352.9 million, equivalent to approximately $6.15 billion. The Ankara-based company ranks as Turkey's largest defense enterprise by market capitalization, with a valuation exceeding 1.71 trillion Turkish lira.
A substantial portion of these contracts was concluded with the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB). Key agreements include a 2.46 billion euro hybrid air defense systems procurement contract, a $195 million radar systems acquisition deal, and contracts exceeding 1 billion euros for long-range air defense system serial production. Additionally, ASELSAN signed a 1.23 billion euro agreement with ROKETSAN for the supply of air defense system subcomponents. On the international market, the company secured $157.9 million in export contracts for electronic warfare, electro-optical systems, seeker heads, reconnaissance and surveillance, communications, and weapon systems. A separate 488.5 million euro sales contract was signed with a foreign customer for air defense system exports.
ASELSAN plays a leading role in developing the "Steel Dome," a multilayered domestic air defense and command-and-control architecture designed to integrate the nation's sensors, radars, and weapon systems into a unified aerial security network. Company CEO Ahmet Akyol stated recently that ongoing serial production efforts continue to strengthen the Steel Dome framework. Akyol characterized Turkey as one of the few nations capable of independently developing air defense systems and pledged to maintain intensive efforts toward establishing a fully autonomous defense industry.
ASELSAN's financial performance has demonstrated remarkable growth in recent periods. The company recorded a 50 percent increase in net income during 2025, with growth exceeding 70 percent in the first half of 2026. Akyol described ASELSAN as among the world's "fastest-growing" companies, noting that the firm ranks first or second in Europe within its sector. This performance reflects the company's technological capabilities and strong market positioning.
The concentration of $6.15 billion in contracts over two weeks demonstrates rising demand for ASELSAN's products in both domestic and international markets. Agreements covering air defense systems, radar technologies, and electronic warfare solutions address Turkey's regional security requirements while simultaneously strengthening the company's position in the global defense marketplace. These contracts represent tangible outcomes of efforts to increase localization rates and advance domestic technology development initiatives.
