BREAKING NEWS
The Altay Main Battle Tank, one of the most prestigious projects of Türkiye’s defense industry, has officially reached the stage of mass production readiness. Otokar Automotive and Defense Industry Inc., the main contractor of the project, confirmed that all necessary preparations and infrastructure are in place to begin large-scale production.
As Türkiye’s first indigenous main battle tank, Altay combines superior firepower, advanced armor protection, and state-of-the-art technological systems, designed to significantly enhance the operational effectiveness and deterrence of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK). With capabilities tailored to counter asymmetric threats, perform in harsh terrains, and operate effectively in high-intensity combat scenarios, Altay is set to become a cornerstone of Türkiye’s land forces.
Beyond strengthening TSK’s inventory, Altay represents a major step toward Türkiye’s goal of achieving full defense industry independence. The transition to mass production is also expected to increase Türkiye’s visibility and competitiveness in the global defense market, positioning the country as a key supplier of modern armored systems.
Experts note that the launch of Altay’s mass production underscores Türkiye’s growing technological capacity in land systems while highlighting the global potential of its indigenous defense industry.
