Albania has taken a significant step in strengthening its defense capabilities by signing an agreement with Türkiye’s leading defense company, Baykar Teknoloji, for the procurement of Bayraktar TB2 UCAVs. The signing ceremony was held in the capital city of Tirana, marking a milestone in the strategic partnership between the two nations. The event was attended by Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, Defense Minister Niko Peleshi, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Tirana Tayyar Kaan Atay, and Baykar’s General Manager Haluk Bayraktar.
Prime Minister Rama expressed his gratitude to the Republic of Türkiye and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for their pivotal role in the procurement process. He emphasized the importance of strategic partnership with Türkiye, highlighting their shared stance within NATO and underlining how the Bayraktar TB2 UCAVs would strengthen the operational effectiveness of the Albanian Armed Forces.
Under the agreement, Albania will initially receive three Bayraktar TB2 UCAVs. In addition, a 30-person team will receive specialized training to ensure effective use and integration of the systems. This cooperation not only involves the delivery of advanced drones but also fosters deeper military collaboration between the two countries.
Baykar’s CEO Selçuk Bayraktar noted the strong ties between Türkiye and Albania, stressing that the deal would enhance the defense capabilities of both nations. He also highlighted the growing reputation of Bayraktar TB2s worldwide, which have already proven their effectiveness in numerous operational theaters and gained trust on the global defense market.
This agreement further demonstrates Türkiye’s rising influence in the international defense sector, particularly in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and munitions. With the addition of Albania to its list of partners, Bayraktar TB2 continues to strengthen its global prestige and reaffirm its role as one of the most sought-after UAV platforms worldwide.
