BREAKING NEWS
Baykar’s AI-driven munition family has marked another milestone with KEMANKEŞ 1. Following its first-ever launch from the Bayraktar AKINCI UCAV last week—where it successfully destroyed an aerial target under a demanding scenario—the mini smart cruise missile has now demonstrated the same precision against ground targets. Conducted under the coordination of the Çorlu and Keşan Flight Training and Test Centers, AKINCI took off with two KEMANKEŞ 1 rounds under its wings to execute a full mission profile covering cruise, dive, and terminal engagement. The test footage was recorded by a Bayraktar TB2 operating in the area.
Developed for use against strategic targets, KEMANKEŞ 1 combines a jet engine with more than 30 minutes of endurance and a mission range exceeding 200 kilometers. Its AI-assisted electro-optical seeker and autonomous flight-capable autopilot deliver target recognition, classification, and precise terminal guidance even in challenging weather. Anti-jamming features harden the weapon against intense electronic attack, ensuring resilient operation. Throughout the mission, line-of-sight data links with the host platform enable real-time imagery and telemetry flow to the ground control station, enhancing the operator’s situational awareness.
Integration breadth is a force multiplier. Beyond AKINCI, KEMANKEŞ 1 is designed for Bayraktar TB2 and the carrier-capable Bayraktar TB3, offering a cost-effective, flexible, and accurate strike option against high-risk, deep targets. This creates an end-to-end mission chain from ISR to effects, strengthening deterrence against air defenses, radars, command posts, and critical infrastructure. In multi-domain concepts, TB2/TB3 can cue or record while AKINCI performs standoff strikes, tightening kill chains and shortening sensor-to-shooter timelines.
Baykar’s export-driven growth model underpins the sustainability of such indigenous munitions. The company’s global momentum expands combined platform-munition concepts alongside training, logistics, and lifecycle support packages. With its back-to-back successes, KEMANKEŞ 1 underscores Türkiye’s competitive edge in AI, autonomy, and network-centric operations—signaling a munitions ecosystem that is rapidly maturing in sophistication and scale.
