BREAKING NEWS
Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) kamikaze jet UAV systems AYAZ, SUPER ŞİMŞEK and ŞİMŞEK K successfully struck ground targets during armed flights conducted within the scope of Exercise Ateş Serbest-2026. AYAZ, which demonstrated its capabilities for the first time during the exercise, represents one of the new platforms added to TUSAŞ's national unmanned aerial systems family. The company stated through its social media accounts that it continues to strengthen Turkey's defense industry with national technologies, underscoring the significance of this achievement within the broader national technology vision.
TUSAŞ stands as a leading organization in Turkey's aerospace and space sector, conducting intensive research and development activities in the unmanned aerial systems domain. The company's product portfolio spans a wide range, from tactical UAVs to strategic long-range platforms. This diversity demonstrates TUSAŞ's capability to address various operational requirements. Kamikaze UAV systems constitute an important component of this portfolio, offering cost-effective and highly efficient solutions for modern defense operations.
Kamikaze jet UAVs serve as strategic assets in contemporary air operations, possessing the capability to directly engage and destroy targets. The AYAZ, SUPER ŞİMŞEK and ŞİMŞEK K systems are designed with rapid flight performance, precise target engagement capability and low radar cross-section characteristics. These features render these platforms more resistant to enemy air defense systems. The success demonstrated during Exercise Ateş Serbest-2026 confirms that these systems maintain advanced operational readiness levels.
Turkish defense industry has achieved significant localization successes in unmanned aerial systems over recent years. The development of kamikaze UAVs requires the application of indigenous technology and capabilities in engineering, software, materials science and avionics fields. The introduction of new platforms such as AYAZ demonstrates that TUSAŞ's research and development capacity in these areas continues to expand. Furthermore, successful operational testing of these systems indicates that Turkey has reached international standards in unmanned aerial systems technology.
Globally, kamikaze UAV systems have become integral components of defense strategies. Various nations are developing platforms with comparable capabilities. When compared with international counterparts, TUSAŞ's AYAZ, SUPER ŞİMŞEK and ŞİMŞEK K systems maintain a competitive position in terms of cost-effectiveness and operational flexibility. This achievement may create new opportunities in Turkey's defense exports and present an attractive option for regional allies and potential customers.
