Türkiye’s defense industry presented its latest technologies at the 15th International Defense Industry Fair (IDEF 2021), held between August 17–20 at the TÜYAP Fair and Congress Center in Istanbul. Organized under the auspices of the Presidency and hosted by the Ministry of National Defense, the event served as a vital meeting platform for both domestic and international defense companies.
Nurol Makina unveiled the pickup version of its Yörük 4x4 armored vehicle for the first time, highlighting Türkiye’s growing capabilities in land systems. Additionally, the display of the TCG Kınalıada corvette, developed under the National Ship Project (MİLGEM), emphasized the country’s achievements in naval defense. With products spanning land, air, and sea, IDEF 2021 demonstrated the breadth of Türkiye’s defense capabilities.
The fair was organized under strict COVID-19 health measures, with mask, distancing, and hygiene rules applied meticulously. Another highlight of this year’s event was its hybrid structure. Thanks to the IDEF Business Connect program, participants unable to attend physically were still able to establish new partnerships and business links through digital channels.
IDEF 2021 attracted 154 delegations from 79 countries, while 1,236 companies from 53 countries showcased their products across 38,000 square meters of exhibition space. The displays ranged from armored combat vehicles and unmanned aerial and ground systems to rockets, guided missiles, and military simulators. This comprehensive showcase once again underlined the global reach and influence of Türkiye’s defense industry.
