BREAKING NEWS
One of the most significant transformations in modern warfare has been the widespread use of explosive-laden kamikaze drones. Rapidly gaining prominence during the Russia–Ukraine war, this technology has since become an essential capability for modern militaries. As a natural extension of Türkiye’s advanced UAV ecosystem, Skydagger has quickly emerged as one of the world’s most notable manufacturers in this field. The company introduced two new kamikaze drone platforms for the first time at the BAMEX defense exhibition held in Mali.
A key aspect that sets Skydagger apart is its ability to deliver a fully integrated system—combining both the drone and its compatible explosive payload. The company’s three-stage safety mechanism ensures that explosives remain secure during storage and are activated only under the correct operational conditions. The first safety lock releases when the drone powers on, the second unlocks once it reaches 15 meters of altitude, and the final stage activates through the operator’s command. Only a handful of countries and manufacturers worldwide possess such advanced safety technology.
Skydagger produces all critical components—drones, batteries, motors, fiber-optic systems, and ammunition—within its own facilities, ensuring military-grade quality and rapid production capability. Fiber-optic-controlled drones can reach distances of up to 20 km while remaining immune to electronic interference. Meanwhile, radio-controlled models constantly shift frequencies mid-flight, making them exceptionally difficult for enemy EW systems to detect and neutralize. Test results even note that the drones “cannot be brought down even when detected,” thanks to this technology.
The two models unveiled at BAMEX drew considerable attention. The first carries a 500-gram anti-personnel payload, offers 10 minutes of flight time, and has a range of 5 km—making it ideal for precision strikes in urban environments. The second platform carries 10 kg of munitions, boasts a 10 km range, and contains 7,700 steel balls capable of causing severe damage within a 50-meter radius. This model is considered one of the most effective kamikaze drones in its class worldwide.
Türkiye aims to strengthen its global position in the rapidly evolving field of FPV kamikaze drone technologies. With its innovative engineering and battle-ready designs, Skydagger stands out as one of the key players driving this ambition forward.
