BREAKING NEWS
Türkiye’s defense and aerospace industry maintained its strong export momentum in April 2026, reaching $962 million in foreign sales. The figure was announced by Presidency of Defense Industries President Haluk Görgün, who stated on social media that the sector continued its upward trend during the month. The latest data once again demonstrates that Türkiye’s defense industry has evolved beyond meeting domestic needs and has become an increasingly influential export power in the global market.
According to the figures shared by Görgün, total defense and aerospace exports reached $2.871 billion in the January-April period. This represents a 28 percent increase compared to the same period of the previous year. The $962 million export performance achieved in April alone strengthened expectations for the rest of the year and highlighted the sector’s growing international competitiveness.
This export growth reflects Türkiye’s high value-added production capabilities, field-proven systems and sustainable export strategies. Despite increasing global competition, regional uncertainty and rapid technological transformation in defense systems, Turkish companies continue to gain visibility in international markets. Domestic solutions developed across a broad range of areas, including unmanned aerial vehicles, electronic warfare systems, ammunition, land platforms, naval systems and aviation technologies, are strengthening Türkiye’s position as a reliable supplier.
Görgün emphasized that, in line with the vision set out by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Türkiye’s defense and aerospace industry continues its technology-focused growth with determination. He noted that expanding international partnerships, a deepening defense industry ecosystem and increasing production capacity will help carry export performance even further. This approach supports Türkiye’s goal of becoming not only a country that exports defense products, but also one that exports technology, capability and industrial know-how.
The $962 million export figure recorded in April shows that the sector has entered the remainder of the year with strong momentum. The 28 percent increase achieved in the first four months of 2026 also underlines the growing contribution of the defense and aerospace industry to Türkiye’s economy. With Turkish defense companies expanding their presence across different regions, new agreements and international cooperation efforts are expected to support continued export-driven growth throughout 2026.
