Turkey’s defense industry has adapted the KAPLAN MT medium tracked platform into a dedicated Combat Fire Support Vehicle named KAPLAN ADA by integrating FNSS’s TEBER-II 30/40 two-man turret. Designed to meet both symmetric and asymmetric battlefield demands, KAPLAN ADA combines low silhouette mobility, survivability and a potent, modular weapons suite inspired by European and Russian concepts such as Ajax, Jaguar EBRC and the BMPT Terminator, while remaining tailored to local operational needs.
The TEBER-II turret mounts a dual-feed 30 mm Mk44 automatic cannon capable of 200 rounds per minute and ships with 310 ready rounds. Secondary armament includes a coaxial 7.62 mm machine gun with 1,200 ready rounds, and an externally fed 12.7 mm heavy machine gun aligned with the main gun carrying 300 rounds. The main cannon can be up-gunned to 40 mm by changing the barrel upon user request, and the turret can accommodate two ready-to-fire OMTAS anti-tank guided missiles, enhancing anti-armor and long-range engagement options.
KAPLAN ADA’s integrated command, vision and sensor suite provides real-time reconnaissance and intelligence for deep penetration missions in all terrain and environmental conditions. The vehicle includes a 360° independent commander sight, laser warning systems, and new-generation 40 mm smoke grenade launchers with up to 18 smoke rounds to improve survivability. Modular integration allows active protection systems, additional applique or cage armor and other mission-specific kits to be added quickly.
FNSS emphasizes the tactical advantages of using a tank-type chassis: a lower silhouette versus many APCs and MRAPs, improved concealment in hull-down positions and greater internal volume efficiency for ready ammunition in a manned turret. The choice of a two-man manned turret—rather than a remote weapon station—prioritizes direct commander-gunner coordination, manual fallback operation if electronics fail, higher onboard ready-round capacity and enhanced periscopic/optical situational awareness. With its blend of sensor fusion, modular protection and scalable firepower, KAPLAN ADA positions itself as a flexible, high-impact asset for reconnaissance, mechanized infantry support and armored formations.
