Foça Gendarmerie Commando School and Training Center provides an intensive program for officers and non-commissioned officers from across Türkiye through the Gendarmerie Commando Specialization Course. Lasting six months, the course incorporates land, sea, and air phases, equipping commandos with the skills needed for the most challenging missions. Participation is voluntary, and those who join are subjected to physically and tactically demanding training.
The program’s different stages reflect diverse operational environments: harsh cold-weather and deep-snow maneuver training in Kayseri, basic diving exercises in Ankara, and boat operations alongside helicopter jumps in İzmir. Through these varied modules, commandos develop the ability to operate effectively in multiple terrains and climate conditions.
Beyond physical endurance, the course emphasizes tactical expertise in fields such as weapons knowledge, marksmanship, sniping, map reading, mountaineering, and first aid. This multi-faceted approach ensures that commandos acquire not only combat readiness but also versatile skills applicable to complex operational scenarios.
One of the most striking parts of the program takes place in the blue waters of the Aegean Sea. Here, commandos conduct realistic drills including helicopter jumps into the sea and rescue operations for stranded migrants. These demanding exercises reinforce their strength, courage, and determination. As Senior Sergeant Major Gürcan Ordu noted, the training ensures that commandos are prepared to plan and execute special operations under any terrain or climate conditions.
