BREAKING NEWS
The SSB is organizing the second major summit bringing together all layers of the defense industry ecosystem. The event will address supply chain strengthening, development of agile production capabilities, creation of sustainable and resilient manufacturing structures, financial management, enhancement of human resources quality, and improvement of export and contracting processes.
SSB President Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün noted that the first event held two years ago was designed to strengthen collective thinking within the growing defense industry ecosystem. Görgün emphasized that recommendations from the initial gathering were converted into a roadmap under SSB coordination and that these outputs received positive reception in the sector. He highlighted significant work undertaken in human resources development, converting skilled talent into competency, managing financial burdens, improving export and contracting processes, and digitizing payment procedures.
The second summit has evolved into a broader platform due to strong sector response to the synergy and collective thinking established at the first meeting. Over three days, the program will revisit topics addressed and converted into action items from the previous gathering, while also evaluating emerging technologies, rapid and agile production approaches used globally, supply chain strengthening, sustainability assurance, and financial burden-sharing mechanisms. Approximately 1,000 B2B meetings are planned during the event.
A total of 209 companies are participating, including chief executives of prime contractor firms, deputy general managers responsible for procurement, and SMEs positioned as first-tier subcontractors of prime contractors. Görgün stated that sector priorities, issues requiring solutions, and areas needing improvement will be addressed in depth during the summit. He noted that a concluding statement prepared at the end of the meetings will be converted into a strategic roadmap and implemented.
Emphasizing the critical importance of defense industry firms to Turkey, Görgün noted that the sector works with young, dynamic, and interactive teams. He highlighted the intensive labor invested by firms in design, prototyping, testing, and serial production phases. Görgün drew attention to how defense industry companies redirect their accumulated intellectual and financial resources toward production, investment, and technology development. Noting that each phase from design to prototype to serial production and testing requires substantial effort and dedication, he identified the development of products capable of operating in diverse climatic and environmental conditions as one of the sector's most critical capabilities.
