BREAKING NEWS
ROKETSAN CEO Murat İkinci has shared important remarks about Steel Dome, one of the most critical projects in Türkiye’s defense industry in recent years. According to İkinci, Steel Dome is not merely a system designed to address today’s operational requirements, but also a long-term air defense infrastructure that will continue to evolve in line with future threats. In this respect, the project stands out as a core element of Türkiye’s layered and integrated air defense architecture.
İkinci also highlighted ROKETSAN’s expanding production capabilities, noting that the company continues serial production across a wide spectrum of systems, ranging from anti-tank missiles to cruise missiles, anti-ship missiles, ballistic missiles, and air defense munitions. He underlined that the production and delivery of the TAYFUN ballistic missile and SOM cruise missile are ongoing, and emphasized that manufacturing activities at ROKETSAN continue around the clock on a 24/7 basis. He added that new investments are planned to significantly boost the company’s current production capacity in the near future.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the Steel Dome project is that it is being developed entirely through national capabilities. The system is being created through the joint efforts of ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, and TÜBİTAK SAGE. The fact that all key elements of Steel Dome, including missiles, radar systems, and battery units, can be produced domestically provides Türkiye with a major strategic advantage. This enables rapid scaling of production whenever needed and strengthens the country’s ability to reinforce its air defense network in a short period of time. According to İkinci, Steel Dome is not only a defense project but also a strategic force multiplier positioned at the center of Türkiye’s broader national security vision.
İkinci stressed that air defense is an exceptionally complex and dynamic field, meaning no system can ever be considered fully complete. As threats continue to evolve, air defense systems must be upgraded with new capabilities and technologies. He said Steel Dome has been designed precisely with this understanding in mind. New technologies and enhanced defensive measures will continue to be integrated into the system in order to counter future threats more effectively. İkinci stated that the ultimate goal is to build an air defense structure capable of meeting all of Türkiye’s requirements. He also noted that ROKETSAN has a large portfolio of projects underway and that many new products, including air defense missiles, air-to-air missiles, and next-generation ballistic missiles, are expected to emerge gradually from 2026 onward.
