Otokar Automotive and Defense Industry Inc. has signed a 1.472 billion 80 million 360 dollar export contract covering the supply of various types of wheeled armored vehicles and integrated logistics support services for these platforms. The contract was announced through the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP) and will become effective following receipt of necessary government approvals. The company will provide guarantee letters totaling 441 million 624 thousand 108 dollars to the customer as security for its contractual obligations.
Otokar holds a leading position in the Turkish defense industry for armored vehicle design and manufacturing. Founded in 1987, the company has developed and produced various wheeled and tracked armored vehicles for the Turkish Armed Forces and international customers. The company's product portfolio spans a wide range, from light tactical vehicles to heavy armored personnel carriers. This contract represents a significant development in strengthening Otokar's position in international markets and expanding its export capacity.
Wheeled armored vehicles play a critical role in meeting modern armies' tactical mobility and firepower requirements. These vehicles offer higher road speed, lower operating costs, and better road compatibility compared to tracked systems. Integrated logistics support services encompass spare parts supply, maintenance, and repair support throughout the vehicle's operational lifespan. Such comprehensive support packages play an important role in enhancing customer satisfaction and establishing long-term relationships.
This contract represents an important indicator of increasing export potential for the Turkish defense industry. Wheeled armored vehicles are designed and manufactured in compliance with NATO standards and enjoy demand in international markets. Otokar's signing of this contract reflects confidence in the quality and reliability of Turkish defense industry products. Vehicle deliveries are planned to commence in 2027 and be completed in phases within three years, with the contract remaining in effect for seven years.
In the global defense market, wheeled armored vehicle production is conducted by numerous companies. Organizations such as Germany's Rheinmetall, France's Arquus, and Italy's Iveco Defence Vehicles operate in similar vehicle categories. Otokar's demonstration of itself in the international market through this contract shows that Turkish defense industry products meet world standards. These vehicles, with high localization rates, strengthen Turkey's defense industry independence and technological capacity.
